David Evans

It is with great sadness that Dave W. Evans, President of The George Evans Corporation passed away in November after a brief illness.  We at G.E.C. will remember Dave for being a kind man, a man of integrity and a leader in his own right. He had been with the company since 1977 as a part time laborer working through college to being it’s leader. He made you want to work here. He was a bright and creative man with gentlemen values, a man of integrity that a handshake was a good as a contract and your word has value – if you say it make it so and be sure it’s always true. His family, friends and co-workers past and present feel a great loss in his passing.

We would like to announce that on November 16, 2016 Helenna Freeman has been promoted to President of the George Evans Corporation.  Mrs. Freeman comes from a diverse background of administrative and procurement rolls beginning her career with the former Desaulniers Printing Company in Moline, IL. Over the course of the next thirty years Helenna took advantage of opportunities of growth through on the job training, continuing education classes and apprenticeships to advance her career from a clerk typist to the President’s office.  In her many positions at The George Evans Corporation, lastly as Dave W. Evans’ assistant, she implemented cost saving programs, installed and rolled out a new ERP system, training programs and vendor reduction just to name a few.

It is our pleasure to announce the promotion of Kris Lawrence to Reel Planner and Estimator. Kris’ 30 years of welding and reel manufacturing experience, hard work and dedication with The George Evans Corporation proved Dave W. Evans right. It was he who interviewed Kris in April 1987 and sent him to the President, his Father, with a firm recommendation of hiring.  Kris learned from Dave and started his career as a laborer; working in the different departments to understand the integrities of building reels and rising through the positions. His background and knowledge of welding and reel production has proven an asset for GEC and has helped us be who we are today.

Helenna and Kris are well respected and have brought new ideas and energy into the company. The Board of Directors consisting of Scott and Michael Evans would like to congratulate them and are looking forward to a bright future as we begin our next 100 years!
